Better Homes and Gardens

My work was featured in the e-commerce publication of Better Homes and Gardens last month, and later in the month was featured on two e-commerce sites, ScoutMob and Groopdealz  Because of these features, I've been stocking up on my most popular items but they have been selling out fast. Order now if you need a gift for a birthday, wedding or other special occasion!

Mori, the owner of etsy shop Mori has put together a classy e-zine featuring etsy shops and items and asked if she could use my soup mugs in the debut issue which was released July 1, 2012. Thank you, Mori. It's a beautiful publication.

Testimonials

Petrina Blakely (PetrinaBlakely) says:

my aunt received this 2 days ago and absolutely loves it. She thinks it is so cute and unique, has never seen anything like it and already has her knitting in there. Her daughter loved it so much she went right to your site to see what else you had available. I am so happy to have been able to gift an item from an etsy store I adore. Look forward to seeing it when I visit her next year.

Hi Deb,

I just wanted to say all the bowls and mugs arrived safely this past Friday, and my family has been enjoying them ever since. They are all fabulous! Your dishes always look amazing in your photographs, but they are even more amazing in person. We really love these bowls...my kids have been using a different bowl each time to try them all out! I particulary fell in love with the blue mug that's a little shorter than the others...I've been using it since it arrived, and I've got some tea in it as I type this...it's wonderful to have something so beautiful to look at and use every day...thank you a million times over!

Deb does it again with an original and playful take on the ordinary pie plate. It made a terrific gift for my baker cousin, Annette.

A perfect wedding gift! Personalized aspen log

Whether you're choosing a gift for a wedding couple, someone with a new baby, new home or new job, birthday gift, retirement memento or just some home decor item for yourself, these personalized aspen logs are sure to please.

They measure approximately 17" high by 6" across and come with a hanging wire on the back. I hand build these from white stoneware clay, incising the wording you choose while the clay is soft. You can choose leaf colors (or no leaves and branches) if you have a preference for spring, summer or fall colors.

Once you've provided me with the information for the log, it'll take about 3-6 weeks to have your log ready to ship (or pick up at my studio if you're in town). These cost $90 each, plus shipping of $15 to U.S. addresses via FedEx. I'm happy to include a card with a message from you in the package. Just let me know the wording.

You can see examples of my work in the Gallery here, visit my Etsy online store for a complete inventory of current pieces that ship anywhere in the world, or stop into my studio/gallery in the Pine Grove Center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Giving back to the community
Each fall for the past 11 years, I've been involved in a local fund-raiser called the Soup Bowl Supper. Ten of us local ceramic artists make 300 soup bowls by hand and sell tickets to an event where the attendees get to choose a handmade bowl, fill it with delicious soup donated by the best restaurants in Steamboat Springs, and sit down and enjoy a casual dinner at our local Community Center. Attendees get to take their bowl home to enjoy over and over for years to come. We have many who have come to the event every year to build their collection of bowls. All the proceeds from the ticket sales and a silent auction with beautiful donated pottery go to a different nonprofit each year.

The event was held October 10th,  This year's beneficiary is the non-profit group CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children) who represents children in court proceedings. Often these children have no one to look out for their interests, nor the money to pay for representation. The fund-raiser will provide around $6000 that the group can use for this purpose.
